CHIEF research is conducted by the Department of Comparative Religion and the Department of Sociology. Members of the Department of Comparative Religion are experts in religious studies – an essential component of national identity formation in Europe and beyond. With respect to methods, the scholars of the Department have substantial experience with qualitative ethnographic research, as well as with textual scholarship. The Department of Comparative Religion will take responsibility of co-leading WP1 (with Aston University), WP6 (with Daugavpils University), and WP 9 (with Pune University). Members of the Department of Sociology are experts in the field of sociology of social inequalities, youth and subcultures. In the terms of methods they will utilize a range of quantitative approaches, will be mainly responsible for the survey, but also will help with other project tasks in Slovakia that will include quantitative ways of data gathering and analysis. In Slovak and broader Central European contexts both departments will participate on achieving goals of all WPs.
